Mechanical Filtration Systems
Mechanical filtration in drinking and utility water refers to the process of trapping every physical substance that can be suspended or settled in water and is visible to the naked eye, through pores smaller than the substance itself. This method effectively removes particles from water by physically blocking them with a filter medium that has pores smaller than the particles.
Separator Filters
“Separator Filters” are filters that work on the principle of sedimentation, where sand and gravel particles with a specific gravity greater than water settle towards the bottom.
They are typically made of stainless steel or, based on customer preference, carbon steel. They are often used to reduce clogging before fine filtration in water sources with high concentrations of dense sand particles. The sand particles that accumulate at the bottom of separator filters can be manually emptied from time to time, or they can be discharged using time-controlled actuated valves or solenoid valves.
