Multimedia Filtration Systems
Multimedia sand filters are used for the treatment of sediment, turbidity, and suspended solids in water.
Multimedia sand filters purify water by passing it through column systems composed of mineral layers of different diameters, using a filtration method. Since they perform a surface retention process, particle matter accumulation occurs in the columns according to the water characteristics. The efficiency of the multimedia sand filter is regained through backwashing with the help of automatic systems.
SAKA ARITIM engineers design SAROT+filtration multimedia sand filtration systems after conducting the necessary water analyses. After the pre-chemical processes, the systems are designed with a flow rate selection of 5-15 m/s according to water quality. The column is designed considering a 40% expansion margin. Thanks to the automatically programmable backwash systems suitable for the characteristics of the water to be treated, the system can perform its backwash at any time of the day or based on the pressure difference. To increase backwash efficiency and reduce water consumption, it can be designed with an aeration system.
