Mechanical Filtration Systems

Mechanical filtration in drinking and utility water refers to the process of trapping every physical substance that can be suspended or settled in water and is visible to the naked eye, through pores smaller than the substance itself. This method effectively removes particles from water by physically blocking them with a filter medium that has pores smaller than the particles.

Cartridge Filters

Cartridge filters are designed to remove unwanted substances from water to a desired extent. They achieve this by being placed inside a housing (the outer shell of the filter), which then filters the water passing through it.

The size of cartridge filters can vary according to the need. They are commonly used in apartment entrances, car washes, and villages to eliminate all sorts of physical impurities down to the levels of 50, 25, 10, 5, and 1 micron.

Additionally, cartridge filters are used in smaller capacities within shell vessels filled with materials like quartz sand, carbon, and manganese dioxide, to capture unwanted substances. For deionized applications, filters with pore sizes of 0.11, 0.20, and 0.45 microns are available. These filters are essential in various settings for their ability to efficiently remove a wide range of particle sizes from water.
